"All of anyone's life is composed of thousands of quick impressions and we say 'how beautiful' and they are gone. A painting captures a moment's impression in a magic way.  If a painter is good and lucky, the viewer will feel the air, see the sunlight shimmer or sense the fog cling, hear the laughter of a child on the beach and say 'yes, that's exactly how I felt.' That's why I buy paintings and why I paint paintings. I hope to capture all that was contained in that moment. This is a s close as I can come to expressing why I like to paint and to own others' paintings."
